When you own a home, people are always trying to come up with ways to improve the appearance. Whether it be adding plants and trees or adding lighting to your yard, a frequent choice is low voltage garden lights. These inexpensive and easy to install systems offer a lovely finishing touch to your landscaping.

Although most of these systems are designed to use very little electrical power, there are even some that are solar powered. With these you will have a well lit yard with no costs, other than the original purchase. This lighting system, simply gathers power into a sensor, from the sun. Then at night, another sensor tells them to turn on. One downside is that they will only stay on for about 6 hours, even with a full charge.

The low voltage lights are very simple to install and use a regular electrical outlet. To install, just insert a lamp into the light, put the cover back on and plug it in. It is a good idea to test the lights prior to putting them into their final resting place, to assure that everyone is working well. Once they are in place, as soon as it gets dark, your yard will light up and will look as though you paid a landscape specialist to install them. They can be set to turn on when it gets dark and turn on with first light, or by setting the timer.

There are numerous locations, in your yard to place these. They will look great in a flower bed, along a walkway or can even be used as a flood light, so you can highlight that expensive palm tree that are always telling people about. Your choices are really only stifled by your imagination. As they will come with built in stakes for the ground, they can be moved around, once installed, so you can achieve the look that you desire.

You will, visibly, notice that there is not as much light given off, as with a full electrical system. You have seen yards in your neighborhood, that resemble Rockefeller Center, at Christmas. Sure, they may look really nice, but their electric bill, not so much! With full electrical systems, people can see a couple of hundred dollars every month in wasted electricity!

So, to have a perfect accent to your home, use low voltage garden lights. Be creative and after you have completed the install, just make a small slit in your lawn and bury the wires. Your house will look wonderful. You will not be flabbergasted when you receive next months electric bill. And you will be proud that you did it yourself and added the perfect compliment to your property.
